Hebe was the Goddess of Youth as well as the Cupbearer to the Gods, her mother was Hera and her father, Zeus. According to one story, she resigned as cupbearer to the gods upon her marriage to the hero Heracles, who had just been deified. That statue on the right is Hebe, but there is another bust of her at the bottom of the page. She was occasionally called Ganymeda or even Dia and people seemed interested in her tendency/power to make old people young again. Here's the thing about Hebe: she kinda bores me. No dark side to speak of, just a typical young girl goddess who did some time serving and did some time playing until she got married off to Heracles.

Atop the great Mt. Olympus, blessed kingdom of the Gods, the great God Zeus stirred and was moved to gaze down upon the earth. There he saw a wondrous sight, the youth Ganymede stretching to great the day. The morning sun reflected upon his shining body, his naked flesh a beacon of light, and Zeus was aroused, transfixed by the beauty of this boy. "O to taste the lips of such a beauty", great Zeus decreed, "He will be my own." Great Zeus transformed Himself into the likeness of an eagle and abandoned His magnificent home on the mountain to find the one that moved Him, this youth with unspeakable beauty. When Zeus found the boy He surprised him, and Ganymede, startled, flew back in terror. But Zeus soothed him, saying "Fear not, for I am King of all the Gods, and I am moved by your beauty." Ganymede knew then not to be afraid and he was comforted by the touch of Zeus, of flesh against flesh. "If you will come with me," the Great Lord began, "I will set you on high. You shall be the chalice and I the sword. You will bear the Sacred Cup to all the Gods, and will be forever at My side. I will make you immortal that your youth and beauty will never fade, and we shall be together for always." Moved by the words and touch of the Great Lord, Ganymede spoke: "Great Lord of all the Gods and men, my heart is filled with love and I am yours. To you I surrender my body. To you I surrender my heart. To you I surrender my essence. I can do nothing else but to accept my wondrous fate and flee this earth with you who shines so brightly in my heart." And Zeus was moved by the words of love, spoken by the innocent and carried him aloft into the morning skies towards the great Mt. Olympus. "Forever you shall be known as my special one", Zeus declared. "And forever shall you be kept in comfort and pleasures, matched in strength only by my power, and your beauty." And so it was that Ganymede became the Cup Bearer to the Gods, and the lover of Zeus.

Ganymedes is said to have been a very handsome young man, There are two versions of his parentage. In one he is the son of Tros & Callirhoe. Tros called the people he ruled Trojans. Callirrhoe is a daughter of the River God Scamander. The other story is that his parents are instead Assaracus & Hieromneme. Assaracus Assaracus was king of the Dardanians. eHieromneme is a Naiad, daughter of the River God Simois, Zeus saw him one day and became infatuated with him. He either swooped down as an eagle, or he changed into a whirilwind, and either case took him to heaven, and raped him. As compensation to Ganymedes Zeus made him a cupbearer to the Olympians, drawing red nectar for them, and being praised by him for his diligence and his beauty. To compensate the father of Ganymedes for the loss of his son, he gave him some remarkable mares and had Hermes tell him that he would be immortal and forever beautiful like the gods. It is the constellations of Aquarius that is said to be Ganymedes pouring water from an urn, and the Greek constellation Aquila is the eagle form Zeus took to abduct him with.

IRIS: Goddess of Rainbows. The daughter of THAUMAS and ELECTRA, she's sadly deficient in followers. One day over the rainbow she used to bring HERA's messages to mankind, but now spends most of her time stuck on Greek vases waiting to be noticed as bypassers gabble into their cell phones. Once her courier service for HERA and ZEUS was second to none. Not even HERMES. She never fluffed her lines, muffled her messages or got her wings in a flap however fast she flew. She never slept and was always in constant attendance waiting to take the latest 'Tell-a-Gram' over the Rainbow. If, as reported, she had had an affair with or married ZEPHYRUS, she must have done it on the wing; and if she was the mother of EROS as some claim, it is not surprising he was born with wings and delivered messages of his own by arrow.

Hebe is the goddess of youth (Roman equivalent: Juventas). She is the daughter of Zeus and Hera. Hebe was the cupbearer for the gods and goddesses of Mount Olympus, serving their nectar and ambrosia, until she was married to Heracles (Roman equivalent: Hercules); her successor was the young Trojan prince Ganymede. Another title of hers, for this reason, is "Ganymeda." She also drew baths for Ares and helped Hera enter her chariot. In Euripides' play Heracleidae, Hebe granted Iolaus' wish to become young again in order to fight Eurystheus. Hebe had two children with her husband Heracles: Alexiares and Anicetus. In Roman mythology, Juventas received a coin offering from boys when they put on the adult men's toga for the first time.

Eros is the son of Aphrodite. Eros is the god of love. In particular erotic, romantic, love. He is often represented blindfolded because, love is often blind. His "weapon" is darts or arrows. In either case the tips have been magically treated to produce either uncontrollable love or insurmountable disinterested in the first person seen be Eros's victim after wounding.

Though the goddess Hestia was once the most important of the Greek goddesses, she (like her counterpart, the Roman goddess Vesta) is virtually unknown today. Her name means “the essence”, the true nature of things.
